we attended a 'guru session' on the 19th November. it was interesting to hear from people that work in the creative and media industry. although it sounds very stressful with long hours and not much free time both gurus sounded genuinley excited about the jobs that they do. one of them had met and worked with huge stars such as Michael Jackson!!! we viewed some of the work by the other guru about salsa dancing , it was reall interesting to see the cultures of other places. at the end of the sessions we were given free CDs by artists that arent famous yet! i hab=vent listened to it all yet but i will do soon! :) i had a great time (:

Manchester Art Gallery

yesterday i went to manchester art gallery with my mum ... just to have a look around ... it was a very interesting place ... i saw Zaha Hadids peice which was really amazing and i also enjoyed looking around at other exhibitions .. i saw a struture of a figure hanging from the ceiling over the stairs, it looked like a peice by Anthony Gormley but im not sure ... i liked the 'favourite things' exhibition which was full of illustrations by artists as well as visitors of the gallery, the illustrations were on that persons favourite things and some of them were very interesting ... although i didnt have time to have a go at my own while we were there i think i might have a go in the holidays while i am at home....... maybe when i get back from Turkey !!!! YYEEAAAYYYY!!! anyway hope you all have good holidays ... see you in year 10!!

Banners To Be Displayed In School

Even though its not really to do with the diploma, i thought i would tell you about my day today ...
We spent the day in art with Miss Kearns and Nicola (an artist who came to our school a while ago and studied A-Level art and then went on to do art at university). we split into 3 groups to create 3 large peices of art work to be displayed in school.
The peices were based on PERSONAL LEARNING & THINKING SKILLS and our peice was on teamwork and being an effective participator -- we printed quotes and pictures on to the peice and tomorrow we will finish it off by stitching some more things on to it

The Photoshop Workshop

today we did another photoshop workshop with mr crompton ... it was FAB!!
at the start we went over what we did in the last photoshop workshop and then we learnt some new things ...

Last time we learnt about resizing pictures and and changing the brightness of them, we also went through adding effects to an image aswell as opacity and how to use the dropper tool.

Today we learnt how to use the magic wand and the lasso tool, also we learnt how to use the cloning tool and using different text tools.
